Mine of Gems 璞玉学苑是士乃的社区学习中心。我们以英语阅读和口语为主，结合品格、表演艺术与社区服务，陪伴 7–12 岁的孩子找到自己的声音。
Mine of Gems is a community learning centre in Senai. Our main focus is English reading and speaking for children aged 7–12, together with character, performing arts and service.
AI 能帮孩子写答案，
却不能替他

It can't stand up and say it for them.
很多孩子会读会写，被叫起来用英语回答时却说不出口。在课室里、在面试中、在家里，自信地表达仍然需要和真实的人一起练习。
Many children can read and write, but freeze when asked to answer in English. In class, at an interview or at home, speaking with confidence still takes practice with real people.
孩子也需要一个安全、有归属感的地方：有大人愿意聆听，有朋友彼此鼓励，有一个舞台让他们的声音被听见。
Children also need a safe place to belong: adults who listen, friends who encourage, and a stage where their voice is heard.

宝石小讲师
从阅读到舞台的一段旅程。孩子先学会读，再一起理解故事的意义，用完整的句子说出自己的想法，最后站上舞台说故事、演戏剧、发表短讲。我们不操练语法，而是在孩子开口时自然地纠正。
One journey from reading to the stage. Children learn to read, talk about what a story means, share their ideas in full sentences, then perform through storytelling, drama and short speeches. No grammar drills: language is corrected naturally as they speak.

Every child starts where they are
先做一次阅读评估，再分配到合适的程度。孩子达到下一个程度就升级，家长看得见进步。
A Reading Check places each child at the right level. Children move up when they're ready, so parents can see the progress.
品格与服务贯穿每一堂课：善良、勇气、诚实，每学期还有一个由孩子主导、帮助邻里的服务项目。
Character and service run through every class: kindness, courage and honesty, plus a child-led project that helps the neighbourhood each term.
12 岁以上的少年：我们另设免费的少年成长小组，专注品格与服务，与收费课程分开进行。
Aged 12 and up? We run a separate, free junior-youth group focused on character and service.

Free English Reading Check
孩子读几句简单的英语，再用英语回答一两个小问题。我们会告诉你孩子目前的阅读程度，以及适合哪一个班。
Your child reads a few simple English sentences and answers a question or two in English. We'll tell you their current reading level and which group would suit them.

The gems are the virtues inside every child
每个人心里都有两股力量：一股让我们自私、懒散、发脾气；另一股让我们善良、勇敢、愿意付出。美德就像肌肉，需要被唤醒、被练习，才会变得强壮。
Inside each of us are two pulls: one toward selfishness, laziness and anger, and one toward kindness, courage and giving. Virtues are like muscles. They need to be woken up and practised to grow strong.

每学期开始和结束，我们都会为孩子做阅读评估，并记录英语口语的进步。学期末有家长分享会，孩子在台上展示所学。
We check each child's reading at the start and end of every term and track how their spoken English grows. Each term ends with a showcase where children perform for their families.

Into schools, speaking with hundreds of students
Greg 以华语和英语在学校分享心理健康、自我价值与品格。2026 年 8 月，他为巴生一所华文中学约 680 位中三学生主讲《你比你想象的更坚强》。
Greg speaks in schools in Mandarin and English on mental health, self-worth and character. In August 2026 he gave the talk “Stronger Than You Think” to about 680 Form 3 students at a Chinese secondary school in Klang.
他也受邀到华小主讲糖尿病意识讲座，从小教导孩子照顾身体、养成健康的饮食与生活习惯。
He has also been invited to Chinese primary schools to give diabetes awareness talks, teaching children early to care for their bodies with healthy eating and daily habits.
卷起袖子，把爱送到需要的地方
Rolling up our sleeves to bring care where it's needed
水灾赈灾、分发粮食、为乡区家庭送上太阳能灯、为学童准备书包。少年们和大人一起打包、搬运、探访，从小体会“服务”是什么。
Flood relief, food distribution, solar lamps for rural families and school bags for pupils. Young people pack, carry and visit alongside adults, and learn early what service really means.
在歌声与创作中，打开孩子的心
Opening hearts through music and making things
一起唱歌、画画、做手工和演出。快乐的气氛让孩子愿意敞开心，也让学习的道理留得更久。
Singing, drawing, crafts and performances together. A joyful atmosphere helps children open up, and helps what they learn stay with them.
爱护地球，实践责任
Care for the Earth. Practise responsibility.
塑料瓶、胶袋和保丽龙堵塞沟渠，流进河流和大海。Green Gems 让孩子们成为改变的一份子，把回收带进日常，用行动启发社区。
Plastic bottles, bags and styrofoam clog our drains and wash into rivers and the sea. Green Gems makes children part of the change, bringing recycling into everyday life and inspiring the community through action.

先从一层楼开始，一步一步来
One floor first. We grow when it works.
我们正在士乃筹备第一个中心。先租下一层楼，有小舞台、表演空间，以及阅读和小组学习的桌椅。课程满额、成果看得见之后，再慢慢扩展。
We're preparing our first centre in Senai. We'll start with one floor: a small stage, open space for performing arts, and tables for reading groups. Once classes are full and results are clear, we'll grow from there.
一个放在心里 15 年的梦想
A dream carried for 15 years
大约 15 年前，Gregory Cheong（Greg）就有了 Mine of Gems 的构想，也设计了这个标志：大人和孩子一起伸手，指向一颗绿色的宝石。疫情期间，他在家中为幼童办过小型的 Mine of Gems 学习班。
About 15 years ago, Gregory Cheong (Greg) first imagined Mine of Gems and had this logo designed: adults and children reaching together toward a green gem. During the pandemic he ran a small Mine of Gems home-learning class for young children.
这些年来，他在社区服务、少年活动、学校讲座和公众演讲中累积经验。如今，作为一对双胞胎女儿的父亲，他和太太决定在士乃正式开始。他正在进修自然拼读教学，并招募合格的英语老师加入团队。
Over the years he has gained experience through community service, youth activities, school talks and public speaking. Now, as father of twin daughters, he and his wife have decided to begin in Senai. He is training in phonics teaching and recruiting qualified English teachers to join the team.
青少年生活营：有序思维的习惯
Overnight camp: Habits of an Orderly Mind
三天两夜，以小组讨论学习《有序思维的习惯》，通过故事、游戏和动手活动，建立有条理的生活习惯，学习安排时间，增强自信心与表达能力，最后一起完成一个服务项目。
Three days in small groups studying Habits of an Orderly Mind through stories, games and hands-on activities. Young people build orderly daily habits, learn to manage their time, grow in confidence and expression, and finish with a service project together.

My child's English is very weak. Can they join?
可以，这正是我们想帮助的孩子。阅读评估会把孩子安排在合适的程度，从字母发音开始也没问题。初学者有华语辅助。
Yes. These are exactly the children we want to help. The Reading Check places your child at the right level, even if that means starting with letter sounds. Beginners get help in Mandarin.
这和补习班有什么不同？
How is this different from tuition?
我们不教考试题目，也不操练语法。我们专注于阅读和开口说，让孩子能真正用英语表达，再通过说故事、戏剧和短讲站上舞台。
We don't teach for exams or drill grammar. We focus on reading and speaking so children can really use English, then take it to the stage through storytelling, drama and short speeches.

Is this a religious class?
不是。课程启发自巴哈伊著作中的普世原则，例如团结、服务与品格培养，但不教导任何宗教，也不要求任何信仰。所有背景的孩子都欢迎参加。
No. The programme is inspired by universal principles from the Bahá'í writings, such as unity, service and good character, but it does not teach religion or ask for any belief. Children of every background are welcome.
